I pre-ordered the new book! This subject is not close to my heart like The Longing for Less was. In fact, I try to avoid digital platforms. I look for ideas only on Pintrest and end up trusting my own instincts and creative process more. Luckily, my livelihood doesn’t depend on social media:)
All that hand-wringing about cultural capital and zoomers have to go along a prove themselves utterly oblivious to it.
With respect to where we get ideas, I'm reminded to the times I've talked with my mother and she'd dismissed some argument I'd made as me being too smart because I'd just read something in a book. Which drove me a little mad, but it is actually more interesting to consider that my mother actually had her own sources for the way the world worked (never missing an opportunity to talk to actual people). (Note: she does actually read a fair amount).
